Qipasa's Hotel Rating ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ AQUA Hotel (Santa Susanna, Spain)

Comments · 215 Views

In the month of July, Qipasa went to AQUA Hotel Aquamarina & Spa in Spain to experience the hotel and stay in a premium room with 4 persons, including 2 kids. We paid an additional amount to secure a premium room with a guaranteed view of the sea and the outdoor pool. Vamos!

Hotel Room Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ (Decent room but not great)

We booked a premium room for four people because family rooms weren't available. Our room had two beds for two people each, a small TV, a built-in closet, and a small desk against the wall. The beds were okay, a little small for two adults, and not overly comfortable, but we managed to sleep well enough. The room came with air conditioning and a safety vault, but it was disappointing to have to pay extra for the safety vault. The air conditioning had its quirks; it was either too cold on even the 25-30 degrees Celsius setting or too hot when turned off. The premium room had a guaranteed view of the sea and the outdoor swimming pool from the balcony, which was lovely. Overall, this room receives a three-star rating mainly due to its smaller size and slightly uncomfortable beds. However, the beautiful view from the balcony made the extra payment for the premium room worth it.

Hotel Bathroom Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ (In need of renovation)

The bathroom felt old-fashioned and in need of some refreshing. It featured a toilet, sink with a mirror, and a combined bathtub and shower. The ceiling and door were showing signs of wear and could use a fresh coat of paint. The close proximity of the toilet to the sink didn't make it very comfortable to use. Overall, the bathroom was decent but outdated, earning a three-star rating.

Hotel Hygiene Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (Good Hygiene)

The hotel building and our room were clean throughout our stay. The staff cleaned our room daily and provided fresh towels. The level of cleanliness was commendable, and for that, we give a four-star rating.

Hotel Staff Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (Friendly and Attentive)

The majority of the hotel staff were friendly and attentive. We were warmly welcomed during check-in, and the staff spoke multiple languages, including Spanish, English, Dutch, and German. However, when we asked if we could check out a bit later at 12, the person we approached didn't give much attention and declined our request. Additionally, the same staff member missed the opportunity to inquire about our experience during check-out and didn't say the usual phrase: "Thank you for your visit, and we hope to see you again." Despite this minor incident, the overall experience with the rest of the staff was positive, and we rate the hotel staff with four stars. Keep up the good work!

Hotel Price/Quality Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (Great Value for Money)

We paid approximately 1800 Euros for the premium room for a five-night stay in July for four people, including three meals a day (breakfast, lunch, and dinner). At around €360 per night and €90 per person, which included three meals, it was a reasonable price. The quality we received for this price was fantastic! Therefore, we rate the hotel's price/quality with four stars.

Hotel Family/Kids Friendly Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (Great for Families)

The hotel offered a "Bubble Club" for kids aged 4 to 12 from 10:30 to 13:00 and 15:00 to 17:30. This club provided supervised playtime with toys, games, and crafting activities. At times, they even organized outdoor activities. While the kids enjoyed the "Bubble Club," parents had the chance to relax or do some shopping. Additionally, the hotel had a small, simple swimming pool for kids outside, surrounding playgrounds, and an indoor gaming hall (which was paid). The only downside was that the nearby beach had a sudden drop from shallow to deep water, which might not be ideal for little kids. Nevertheless, our overall experience with the hotel and its family-friendly amenities deserves a four-star rating!

Hotel Restaurant Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (Good Dining Experience)

The hotel restaurant was spacious, accommodating the large number of guests in the five-story hotel. While there could be long lines of guests waiting to enter, the waiting time was generally around 10 minutes or less. The staff in the restaurant were friendly, hardworking, and efficient. The restaurant offered an extensive "All You Can Eat" buffet with a diverse selection of dishes. While there was one loud and grumpy staff member cleaning tables on one occasion, it was a minor incident compared to the overall positive experience with the restaurant staff. The food quality for an "All You Can Eat" setup was good, earning the restaurant a four-star rating.

Hotel Activities/Facilities Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️(Enough Entertainment Options)

The hotel provided both indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a paid gaming hall, and a variety of activities and entertainment for both kids and adults daily. The Spa Wellness facilities were available but not experienced due to additional costs and a focus on kid-friendly activities. We do mention that the fitness room required an extra fee, which was a slight downside. Overall, the hotel's range of activities and facilities warranted a four-star rating.

Hotel Surrounding and Location Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (Perfectly Situated)

The hotel's location was superb, with a short walking distance to the nearby beach and direct access to a boulevard filled with shops and stalls. A supermarket was conveniently close by. Furthermore, the hotel's proximity to Barcelona (60 km away, approximately 50 minutes by car) and Girona (45 km away, approximately 40 minutes) added to its appeal. For this excellent location, we award the hotel with five stars.

Hotel Parking Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (Convenient and Secure)

The hotel offered a large parking lot where guests could park their cars for €8 per day. Although the parking was in an open area without visible cameras or a security guard, we never encountered any safety concerns. The parking was clean, spacious, and sufficient. Therefore, we rate the hotel's parking with four stars.

Hotel Safety and Security Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (Safe and Well-Protected)

Throughout our stay, we felt safe in the hotel, and there were no alarming incidents. While it's essential to be mindful of larger crowds during the busy summer season, the hotel had security measures in place. The outdoor swimming pool area had a security guard, and a lifeguard monitored the pool. It's worth mentioning again that the safety vault in the hotel room required an additional payment, which is a minor downside. Overall, the hotel's safety and security measures receive four stars.

Overall Hotel Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (Recommended)

In all honesty, we don't consider the premium room as a four-star accommodation, rather three-star. We would recommend to improve the rooms,  especially the beds and bathroom. Furthermore, the elevators felt outdated. However, based on our overall experience, including the excellent location, friendly staff, great price/quality ratio, and family-friendly amenities, we wholeheartedly recommend Aqua Hotel Aquamarina Spa. Our experience warrants a four-star rating! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
